Ahli United Bank B.S.C. (AUB), one of the region’s leading banking institutions, has been named ‘Global Bank of the Year in the Middle East’ for 2006 by The Banker magazine ahead of all other regional banks.
In addition, The Banker magazine, a major international banking publication, named AUB ‘Global Bank of the Year in Bahrain’ for 2006. The Banker magazine is part of the UK Financial Times Group.
“The recent awards conferred on us by The Banker magazine underline the confidence our customers and shareholders have in us and the success achieved by AUB as a premier banking group with a broader regional footprint. Over the past year we have evolved into a more consolidated, integrated banking group. It is rewarding for us as a group to be recognized at both the regional and local levels for our achievements,” said Fahad Al-Rajaan, Chairman, AUB.
“This year marked the bank’s entry into North Africa through our acquisition of Delta International Bank, Egypt (DIB); we aim to continue our regional expansion in 2007 through our strategy of acquiring and re-structuring established financial institutions in our targeted markets, “added Al-Rajaan.
